Candidate Profile
Athens College encourages enthusiastic, outgoing individuals with a genuine passion for education and a wide spectrum of personal strengths and interests to apply. The Fellowship is open to recent U.S. Bachelor’s and Master’s degree holders with a record of academic excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate level (due to the entry-level nature of the post, the preferred age limit at the time of application is 26.) Majors in Education and English literature and language (including TESOL/TEFL) are preferred, but are not required. Applicants should be open-minded and adaptable to the experience and challenges of living abroad. They should be highly motivated, flexible, willing to be involved in a number of different projects at the same time, and possess a relatively active lifestyle. Past experience should reflect a desire to work with children and teenagers. Some educational experience and/or experience in college counselling and admissions will be favored. This is a highly demanding award. Candidates with relevant work experience are preferred. Placements may require fellows to rotate among grade levels.
Athens College may interview finalists for the Fulbright Fellowship program via online platform or by telephone.

Grantees will participate actively in supervised English classes and/or be assigned to the school's University Applications and Counseling Office and/or the Library, and have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of students. All grantees are also involved as coaches and mentors in the Forensics Club – the School’s largest English language theater and debate club – where they are able to connect with the students in a fun, creative, and supportive setting. At the end of the school year, grantees serve as camp counselors at Athens College’s English language Summer Camp in June-July.
